Cost is $75 per person (students and advisors), which includes lunch and workshop materials.

Event Day Details

Check in will be between 8:30 and 9:00 am. We will start promptly at 9:00 am.

We will be providing lunch. We will have options for allergies, dairy and gluten-free, and vegetarian/vegan.

If you would prefer to bring your own lunch, you are welcome to do so.

TESTING

ALL students participating in testing events, INCLUDING the Tech Bowl and HS Forensics events, need to bring a laptop that can connect to wifi and the testing website.

EVENTS

Career Prep - students should bring cover letter and resume with them.

Debate - bring a teammate, and do some light research on National Subtopic 2 (pro and con): Gene-editing biotechnologies such as the CRISPR-Cas9 system, set a dangerous precedent for science applications in healthcare.

HS Extemp Speech - students will sign up for a time onsite, and get a topic.

HS Forensics - students should bring laptop for prelim testing, and bring their forensics kit with them (see event guide for details of kit requirements).

MS Leadership Strategies - students come prepared to work together to create and deliver a presentation

On Demand Video - students should bring all camera equipment.

Prepared Speech - students should come prepared to give their speech for feedback

Prepared Presentation - students should come prepared to give their presentation, including a laptop for showing slides.

Problem Solving - students should bring toolbox with them. Problem Solving toolbox items are listed in the Problem Solving competitive event guides for middle and high school. Teams from the same school may share toolboxes.

Promotional Design/Promotional Marketing - students should bring a laptop, and a sketchpad and pencil

Tech Bowl - students should bring laptop for testing for prelim round. Semifinal round will be oral questions

Workshops

HS Architecture - students should review the challenge and sketch some ideas

Biotechnology - students should review the challenge

CAD workshop - students should bring laptop, chromebook or device with any allowed CAD software on it. Wifi will be available, if students are using an online version of CAD. Please ensure school devices are allowed to access wifi!

Children’s Stories - students should come with an idea for their story (that fits with this year’s theme)

Comp Sci 101 - students should bring a laptop. Wifi will be available. Preview of the coding process and challenges

HS Coding - students should bring a laptop. Wifi will be available.

Debate - Review of the debate process and event, and how to prepare

Drones - students should bring a notebook and pencil

Event Guides & Portfolios - Learn how to use the event guides and rubrics, and develop portfolios, for success

JSS/SSS workshop - students should bring a soldering iron, if possible. We will provide training on using it. We will provide materials kits. Students should also bring paper and pens/pencils for sketching.

Media Arts - students should bring a laptop with ability to access wifi

MS Off the Grid - review of event, challenge and how to succeed. Students should review challenge

Photo Gallery - students should upload their photos to the CWU dropbox, by Nov. 14, and the Lynnwood dropbox (Middle School, High School) by Nov. 19. If you can’t access dropbox, email photos to Mrs. Smith at jsmith@washingtontsa.org. Students should upload at least 2 photos for the annual theme.

Pin Design - students should bring a sketchbook and pencil

Structural workshop - teams/students should bring their Structural kit if possible (see Structural event guide). TSA will provide balsa, and cutting pads, and will have some tools
